After closing WORD the winword.exe is stays running.

No code, we terminate the process thru task manager

What OS are you running it on? if tbsqadi's comment doesn't work, I'd just reinstall Office.

found out our issue was the vendor software that uses word causes this issue and they are coming up with a fix
