Hi There,

I am totally new with crystal reports.  I am trying to create a chart that sorts by Month Jan, Feb, Mar etc.

I have managed to create a formula to change my date field to month but when I run the chart the months show in alphabetical order (i.e. April, Feb, Mar)

I have searched and do not understand any previous posts.

Can someone please help me.

Thanks,

You don't need to change the field to the month

Create the chart with the data
When you add the date field
Click the OPTIONS button
Change it to group by month

Hi mlmcc

Sorry, total new to this.

Where do I find the options button.

This is my chart options.

When I change the field to date it just outputs dates on the report

What version of Crystal?

You may have to use the ADVANCED option

What formula is used for the month?

If you choose the datefield does the ORDER button become available?
If so click it and see if you have Original order as an option or Specified order

Specified order allows you to put the values in the order you want to use.

This is my month formula: MonthName(Month (CDate({Leads.lead_DateOfSubmission})))

Tried the order by box - only shows months were data is available - would I have to go in here every new month to sort the month order?

In CR XI when I click the ORDER button for a date I have the option to group by a time period
It is a drop down with
This Section Will Be Printed

Try changing the chart to use the date field rather than the formula and see if you have that option.

Thank you so much.

My date was stored as a string, so I coverted to a date field and the options then showed up.

Your  a life saver - Thank you
