If this is an HP tape drive of anything close to reasonable age, it should have come with a free single server license for Data Protector Express, which I believe still works with WinServer2008.

The drive cames with HP Data Protector Express v3.5 SP2, which now we know that it does not support Windows Server 2008. Although we bought the DAT unit in Octuber 2008, and the manufacturing date printed in the drive at HP is May 2008, the license included of HP DPX SSE does not permit us to make a upgrade to version 4. I think this has no sense at all (Windows Server 2008 was launched in February 2008), but we can't not do anything else, this is the reason why we're looking for another software.
I can't post a direct link because this is licensed software for purchasers of HP tape drives, and it would be difficult to ensure others weren't downloading it.
However -- A call or email to HP Tech Support should get this resolved; I was looking for a supported way to help as quickly as possible.
