Trying to connect to Exchange Server from laptop without VPN outside network

trying to connect to 2003 exchange server using outlook office from outside network without a VPN. Is there a way to configure Outlook to connect out of network

The server would have to be configured for rpc over http.  Otherwise, I would recommend accessing the server via Outlook Web Access.  Exchange 2007 implemented the Outlook Anywhere, but I don't believe that was a feature of 2003.

Do you have SBS ?  You have to have OWA installed and running.  The easiest way is to have a SBS server configured for remote access.  If you don't then you have to configure OWA.  Without SBS hopefully you have a front end exchange server and not just a single Ex svr.  Check out this link....
