Symanetec End-Point Protection Manager won't log on or allow re-install/ Emmbeed DB service won't stop

When I try to log in to our End-point console I can't get in.  It takes the credentials and the progress bar goes about 1/3 of the way and freezes.  When I try to repair the installation I get the following!

"Error 1921 Service Symantec Embedded Database (ASANYs_sem5) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privlidges to stop system services"
I have tried stopping the services and the Embedded database service just sits there saying stopping.  Even after a reboot or in safe mode the service can't be started or stopped.
I am trying this while logged in as a domain and local admin.
 Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi,

You can set the start up type of the database server to "Disabled", then reboot your server and try to re-install

Thanks for the help!  By disabling the service I was able to reinstall after a reboot, as well as upgrade to MR4 MP1.  Thanks again!
