usb driver for dell dimension 8400

Hello:

I reinstalled windows xp on my dell dimension 8400 and for some reason I can't use my usb port. when I connect my mp3 player for example, it does not recognize it. I llooked in device manager and next to the usb there is a yellow exclamation point. In my computer it does not show my external harddrive, which is connected by usb as well, either.

What do you make of this? Am I missing a USB Driver? I went to the dell drivers and downloads and downloaded everything I thought I needed .

Please write back to rjones48@gmail.com if you have any ideas.

Thank you.

Did you go to same link below and download all drivers needed for system:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_8400&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=
Also, connect the usb drive on other system see if it works fine? Sometime usb cable bad is a cause.
