to try further diagnosing the issue, try opening a command prompt by clicking start, then run
type "cmd" without the quotes into the box and press enter
in the command prompt type "ping netflix.com" without the quotes and press enter
it should try sending a few bytes of data to the server
if it times out after 4 tries, then your computer does not have access to the server for some reason.
if you can ping it and receive a response, then perhaps firewall software is disabling your browser from displaying the site
hopefully this helps

Ping netflix and received response
Disabled firewall, removed spybot, diabled McAfee and still no load

What browser are you using? Did this PC used to be able to access Netflix?

I'd try clearing the cache in the web browser. In IE, this is the "Internet History", and in Firefox it's the "Cache" option under "Clear Private Data."

Try the same site with some other browser and let me know whether it works.

Are you by any chance blocking (in your hosts file, or elsewhere) traffic to/from Limelight Networks ( llnw.net ) on the "problem child" machine?  That could potentially block your access to www.netflix.com.

Add the site to 'trusted sites' list in internet explorer and try again.
Tools -> Internet options -> security -> trusted sites -> sites -> Add the website address.
Close internet explorer and reopen.
Try again.
Let me know the result.

What, specifically, are the errors that Firefox and IE7 are giving you?

It's possible you might have some spyware on the PC that's messing with your web access. Download HijackThis and run it, then attach the log file here.

Are any of these machines running Silverlight?  Are you using the same NetFlix account on each?  I have heard that if you access NetFlix from a machine with SilverLight, it sets a flag in you NetFlix user account that will require you to use SilverLight forever more.

FYI, Netflix does not suport FireFox.

marsiliesCommented:
Netflix does run in Firefox, at least the main site does. The "Watch Instantly" feature requires Silverlight to work in Firefox.

From Netflix's site:
http://www.netflix.com/WiMessage?msg=51
Complete System Requirements
To watch instantly, you'll need a computer that meets the following minimum requirements:
  • Windows     Windows XP with Service Pack 2, or Vista
  • Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher; or Firefox 2 or higher
  • 1.2 GHz processor
  • 512 MB RAM

Ah, I avoid SilverLight so didn't know that.  I assume that jdandm2 wants the "Watch Instantly" since that is the only thing I know that isn't basic web stuff.

hello, ok netflix required javascript to run so lets make sure you have the newest java installed and up to date
you can download it from here:
http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

also, i have found that netflix is on certain p2p block lists for drm reasons
if you have any p2p blocking software enabled on this machine, disable and try connecting to netflix
by this i mean, peerguardian or protowall
if you dont have any installed, then do not worry about this step

Firefox works as well as ie7 or 8 on all but one pc
I do not remember (nor does my wife) installing silverlight BUT
search in registry= installed   oooo1  says yes
any way to get rid of it?
I uninstalled ie8 and ie7 and firefox3.0xxx
installed firefox 3.5
same thing happens "unable to load"
also
found apple safari for windows has been loaded
Uninstall not in add remove programs
notes under silverlight says this may be the culprit

Java and JavaScript are two entirely different things. Both IE and Firefox have their own JavaScript engines built into them, called JScript and SpiderMonkey, respectively.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JavaScript#JavaScript_and_Java

If a site like Netflix requires additional plugins like Java, Flash, or Silverlight, it will notify the user via a message on its site.

I read that once you use SilverLight with NetFlix, you cannot turn it off because NetFlix remembers you used it.  Even if you wipe out your machine or use a different machine.  Of course you could cancel your NetFlix account and get a new one.   Here are some links that discuss it.  In your case, put SilverLight on the machines that don't work.

Check for spyware. Certain malware can mess up a PC in weird ways, and no AV program in existence can catch them all.

Download HijackThis and run it, then attach the log file here.
