Hi,
seems that you already know where to configure the TSM client.
Basically, it's a file called dsm.opt (under Unix there is a dsm.sys, too). Configuration is possible using an editor or the GUI.
In the following I will explain a few important things assuming that you use the Windows GUI to configure. It's basically the same under Windows and Unix, but if you're not under Windows, please tell me, so I can explain some differences. I will also let aside all the performance tuning options.
Click 'Edit -> Preferences'

Under the 'General' tab, enter your Node Name as configured on your server and configure a path to the error log file (or accept the default).
Under 'Backup' click either 'Back up all local ...' or select the domains (partitions) you'd like to appear later in the selection pane. Those domains are also going to be backed up by the scheduler.
Under 'Authorization' click 'Password Generate' and 'Save encryption...' if you're going to use the scheduler. Select an encryption type at wish.
Under 'Communication' chosse your communication method (most probaly TCP/IP), and enter your server's address (or IP number). That's what you mentioned in your question ('TSM server's IP).
That's all you need to do to start using the TSM client.
To configure additional features, best click 'Utilities -> Setup Wizard' and select the appropriate components. The most important will be the scheduler. Contact your TSM server admin before doing any configuration here.
You can always use the 'Help' function to learn more.
If you need more detail, please come back here and ask!
HTH
Cheers
