CA client how does it work

hi when installing a CA client, do i need to configure the client in any way?
i.e. do i need to configure anything other thatn  the CA servers IP.

and is the any security information that has to be configured when the client is installed?

everything you want to be set should be done via the server, you install the client specifying the server and thats where the updates and settings are retrieved from
