Microsoft SyncToy NAS Corruption

I've read in the Microsoft forums that SyncToy can cause file corruption when used with NAS devices. I would like to know more about the exact problem, as NAS has a fairly wide definition, and I am worried about using SyncToy with some devices on my network.

Does anyone know what the actual problem is (in technical terms) and the type of devices that are effected / safe?

While I am not sure about the overwriting that is happening, we are definitely seeing reports of data corruption on NAS drives. So I do recommend that you not use SyncToy 2.0 to back up to these disks. We have identified a fix and it will be fixed in a future release so we hope you will get back to using the next version of SyncToy !

But i do not see the 'details' of the problem anywhere.. looks like we just hafta wait for a new version.

Thanks speshalyst. It's a shame that Microsoft aren't being more open about this issue. I will leave this question open for a little while longer to see if there are any more comments.
