is there a way to get an alert when the firewall drops in internet connection

i have a sonicwall tz180
if the internet goes out, is there a way to get an alert from it.
i know an alert needs to have internet access, but is there a way i can do this if i get a time warner modem backup

any suggestions?

A)If you have an internal mail server the alrts will not need internet access. (saying sonicwall have an alert email feature)

1)Another test is a simple ping from a machine to www.google.co.uk.
If it times out then the internet has gone down.

2)You could use SNMP if sonicwall includes...

3)You can get some network managment tools that report this inform ation, although they will proform a simple ping.  they will also email you or even text your mobile.

OR- Report to your ISP and get the line checked.

Also check your router for firmware updates.

You could try another router just to test the connection for a day if this issue keep happening.
