What is the explorer in netbeans

I am reading: "NetBeans: The Definitive Guide" byTim Boudreau, etc

He mentions "Explorer" in NetBeans has 4 tabs: Filesystems, Project, Javadoc, Runtime.  He writes this in Section 2.2.3 Tabs in the Explorer on page 47.  I am using NetBeans 6.5.  I don't see the explorer with the tabs.  Am I doing something wrong that hides this window?  Where is it?

You should read an updated book man. This are for very old versions of Netbeans...
