I installed a new Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 on a Windows XP Pro SP2 PC but it does not work. After installing the applications and the driver that came with the scanner, i rebooted the PC per the installation's on-screen instructions. After the reboot i attached the scanner to a USB port, Windows displayed the usual 'new hardware found' message and set the scasnner up successfully. I launched Acrobat but it didn't see the scanner. So I went into Windows Control Panel and opened Scanners and Cameras. ScanSnap was listed in there but when I right-clicked the icon and opened the properties it said the scanner status was unavailable and the test & diagnostics button was disabled.
Afterwards i learned that the user had connected the scanner to the PC previously w/o installing the driver. So i uninstalled the apps/driver for the scanner, went into the registry and delelted all entries i could find by searching for ScanSnap.
Then I re-installed the apps/driver but scanner still does not work.
