Are you sure that the event RowLeave is not triggered ?

Event Description        Fired when:
RowLeave                     A new cell is selected in a new row.
RowLeave                     The GridView control loses the focus.

In the save button event , move the focus out of grid row before saving is started

Ex:

Public sub btn_click()

'move focus to other control

txtbox.focus()
