I have a client whose computer will not start Outlook any more.

It gets the following error message when attempting to run Outlook 2007.

cannot start microsoft office outlook.  cannot open the outlook window.

I have repaired the Outlook.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled.  I have tried to run Outlook in safemode.  I have tried running scanpst against his pst files to look for corruption.  I have also reset the IE8 security settings.

Any ideas?

Windows XP Pro

Have you tried creating him a new profile?

Corrupt profile was it in combination with something wrong with the PSTs.  They weren't corrupt according to scanpst.  Starting with a fresh profile and the old PSTs didn't work.

But the combination of a new profile and new PST did the trick.

Perfect!  Glad to know what caused it.  Thanks for the points and grade.  Take care.
