Hi,

1) This is related to the CCNA exam
2) This is related to the discussion at one of the test prep
3) It is related to the IOS command: "show cdp neighbors" as the followings:
Sw-AC3#show cdp neighbors
4) The results: It is in a spread-sheet but i present it with the explanation:

Field 1: Device ID
1)Sw-DS1
2)Sw-AC2
3)VLAN-R1
Field 2: Local Interface
1)Fas 0/12
2)Fas 0/9
3)Fas 0/3
Field 3: Hold-Time
1)130
2)176
3)152
Field 4: Capability
1)S (Switch)
2)S
3)R
Field 5: Platform
1)2950
2)2950
3)2620
Field 6: Port ID
1)Fas 0/12
2)Fas 0/9
3)Fas 0/0.1

5) My Questions: Please say it with your own wordings, but you can provide the "links" if necessary, 1)What is the "Local Interface"? Is it the interface at the Swith Sw-AC3 itself?, 2) What is the "Port ID"?, 3) If necessary please explain the differences between the "local interface" vs "port ID"
6) Thank you

The "Local Interface" is your interface. The "outgoing" port is the other devices interface.

In the output of show cdp neighbor, all the information is for the neighbor EXCEPT the "holdtime" and "Local interface". Those two fields apply to the device that the "show cdp..." command was issued from.
