OWA Status bar shows address on not the default email address but another address the user may have

Hi,

OWA

When connecting to an email account with OWA, in the status bar, it is not showing the default user name.

E.g. If the default users name is Peter.Smith@org.com, but the user also hase psmith@org.com and peters@org.com the OWA status bar may show;

https://mail.org.com/exchange/psmith/inbox/message

This address (psmith) is not set to the default email account in the users AD profile.

It should be reading

https://mail.org.com/exchange/peter.smith/inbox/message

Anyone seen this issue and the resolution to it?

The address shown in the address bar will be the alias on the account. That is often different to the email address. In fact I would go as far as to say that the address is more often than not different to the email address.

That is what I am saying.  It is not using the alias, it is using a secondary email address.  I need to make sure it only uses the account alias or the default email address.
You do know what the alias is? It is on a separate tab on the user account. Have you checked the user account to ensure that the name being used isn't elsewhere in the configuration?

Simon.

Of course I have checked the Alias. This is a bug in OWA 2003 and I was hoping that someone who knows about the bug and how to manage it would reply.
I will ask the moderator to re-post the question.
I have been working with Exchange for over six years, I have held the MVP status in the product for four. This is the first time this "bug" has ever been mentioned. Therefore I have to disagree that it is a "bug".

Although if it is a bug you are hardly going to get it fixed now, when Exchange 2003 is on extended support and is already one and soon to be two versions old.

What does it matter what the address bar shows anyway? If it is causing you a problem, then perhaps you should state the actual problem, rather than trying to find a fix for what you think the problem is.

Simon.
I am sorry you answered the question, I will now have to contact support and get it re- submitted as no one else will comment now you have commented.
