Hi!
May be this is not a true answer for your question but why don't you draw a mask with the Graphic class, instead of using BitmapData class?

You can use the drawRoundRect () method to create a rounded rectangle ( public function drawRoundRect(x:Number, y:Number, width:Number, height:Number, ellipseWidth:Number, ellipseHeight:Number = NaN):void ) and mask your images with it.
