When i run periodic signature updates on my IDSM2 using the ASDM tool the IPS always freezes. When this happens I cannot log into the IPS and I then have to do a full power off and on to get it working again.

Ah - the problem I had was with an older release.  Do you have Cisco smartnet support for the unit?  Getting a sh tech and any crash debug files will usually make it an easy fix for them.
