Immediately stop using the HD, remove it from the PC and connect it as a 2nd disk to a PC running windows. Then scan it using getdataback. If the pst is there and looks the right size, register the tool, and then you can copy the file off.

The PST is there on the laptop with the same name as it was prior to the upgrade but the PST size is seen as 0 bytes.Would this solution help. Also please suggest if there is any other solutions available.

There may be another deleted version of the file somewhere. With getdataback should find it. But you have to immediately stop using the disk as otherwise the chances are high that anything will overwrite the lost file, and then you won't be able to recover anything of value.
