server 2003

Generic host process for Win32 services encountered a problem and needs to close" pops up 5 times - stops some network functions.  mapped drives appear then disconnect "apparently" at random.

More information please,

First off, how long has it been since this problem started?  Any changes or additions to the server that stand out?  Even a printer install?

Could you check the event logs and take a look around the times when the error occurs. It may reference a program or service that errored out.

I know HP printer drivers and software do this to me more often then I'd like it to.  That's one of the many possibilities for your case.

system error logs report event id 1000 faulty application svchost.exe faulty module shell32.dll occurring every 2 -4 minutes.  application logs have event id 7032 and 7011 (symantec related).

sorry - these events started on Wednesday May 13th (following / just as) a new sonicwall firewall was installed. (we've removed the appliance from the network - errors still remain).

solution: multiple patches for server 2003.  there was also a microsoft patch specific to these errors.
