hello there,
I was looking to find a fast way to work and handle my 5GB mysql database forum and I found something that I think
it should help, http://www.mysqlperformanceblog.com/2008/04/23/real-life-use-case-for-barracuda-innodb-file-format/
what do you guys think about using that.. and how exactly can I have a setup like that on my centos v5.3 server?

Hi,

It seems very nice it might cause great improvement over your data access in that Barracuda is responsible for quick indexing, data compression and new table storage format and sounds quite promising. It is recently (in April 15 2009) announced by oracle and produced by an Oracle subsidy. You might as well know that MySQL is another subsidiary of Oracle so all parts are "home brew" and will have quite a support I believe.

Th's all being said, when it comes to implementation I'll suggest you to create a separate "staging" database and make your tests over this database before going into production.
