VB.net Express vs ASP

Good day

I have developed a lot of web applications in the past with old ASP + Java script using Front page.

I want to develop a web page that works like the new Google Adwords service (not loading a new page every time a user submits data)

I also have downloaded the free Visual basic 2008 Express edition.
I do know VB 6 very well

Is it possible to develop this kind of web application with VB.net and is it worth the effort to learn it, rather than still using ASP + Java script.

If so, where do I get started to develop a simple hello world web application?

It's absolutely worth it.  I migrated a few years ago from classic ASP to ASP.Net using VB.NET and have loved it.  The best place to start is to download Visual Web Developer 2008 Express and then try out the kits and examples provided.  The link below has the download and tons of links to helpful information to get you started.

Hi

Thank you!
Do I do my VB programming inside the Visual Web developer IDE or how does it work?
How long (more or less) would I be learning before being able to develop a web site?

Yes, you can do the programming in the Visual Web Developer IDE.  If you download and try out some premade sites from MS you'll see very quickly how its working.  It does help that you have VB experience already.  Its a melding of ASP and VB into a single web programming language.  There are differences but I think you'll be able to figure them out quickly using the kits and links on that site I'd sent.
