stange image shapes when opening pdfs in illustrator

When I open pdf in illustrator they're splitting into three or four different shapes. You cant tell until you slected them. Is there a way of stopping this?

it depends on PDF. where it came from! if it was generated by solid works or corel draw or other programm the illustrator can display the image as a splitting one...

how do you open those file? if you just drag and drop into the illustrator try next time use ctrl+O. or import a file
