Windows 2008 Datacenter edition

Does anyone know the following?
1. Do you get versions of server 2003 in 64 and 32 bit with a 2008 datacenter purchase?  I read where several people said they were able to download those older versions as part of the package.

2.Is it cheaper to buy 2008 datacenter if you are a microosft partner? We will be using it for production environments

Windows 2008 Datacenter is per proc licensing, not per server.  THe server 2008 Datacenter license gives you the right to install as many windows hosts on the Datacenter hyper-v center.

I've never heard of MS shipping Server 2003 with 2008 datacenter.

I do know if you become a microsoft select partner, you will gain access to keys/downloads to many packages including server 2003.

The cost of the software in a partner agreement is adjusted when the complete sale is bid/quoted by MS.  Therefore if you are buying multiple servers and CALs for 4000 hosts, your cost for 2008 will be lower than purchasing with 200 CALs.

There are also multiple levels of options, with SA without SA and (software assurance =SA)

If you guys are looking into a considerable investment I would contact a MS rep, they are really great at explaining it all and could also give you an idea of your costs per proc for 2008 datacenter.

Hope that helps.
