How to check the existence of email id

Hi folks,

Is there any procedure to check weather the particular email id exist or not?

For example i want to check the email id  "rushdi@iccsat.com" exist or not how can i check.

I need the procedure in asp.net 2.0 with c#

I don't like the idea that's someone is checking the emailaddress first ...
If that existed, it would take a lot less effort for spammers to send bulk mails !
How do you check if the address exist ? Some mailservers bounce the mail back, others don't tell you anything (even if the address doesn't exist)

Some tools on the market (not free)

You can use software to request information about "MX records" on the email address's domain.
Here is a good product that encapsulates the technology: http://www.aspnetmx.com/.

Checking email addresses for validity is a tricky process. EmailValidator.Net has made this process incredibly simple and powerful.
The only correct way to verify an email address exists is to send a mailbox an email and see if you receive a bounce back email or NDR (Non-Deliverable Receipt). EmailValidator.Net validate email addresses WITHOUT sending an actual email.
