Problem mailing attachment since upgrade to 8.0.2 client

I have recently updated to Notes CLient 8.0.2 from 7.0.2.

I e-mail some of the documents in my database using the @MailSend command.

Since the upgrade any message where there is an attachment in the richtext mail body field is attached when sent and any attachment in the MIME part of the document (usually represented by a grey frame line in the footer of the document isn't getting attached when sent?

I have messed with the MIME send formats on the server and some of the server ini settings to no avail?

What is going on?

Had a sort of result with this but would like to understand it
From the server configurations document - MIME Tab | Conversion Options | Outbound

Change Option 'message content': from Notes to Plain Text
To: from Notes to Plain Text and HTML

This now represents the attachment found in the MIME part of the document in Outlook. What I don't understand though is that we have never had to set this server option in the past. Is there something releated to this setting in the client that needs to be changed when upgrading?

I have done a through investigation into this now and there is a fundamental problem:

Analysing the document placed in the outgoing mail box before send to the server in both the 7 and the 8 client despite the mail send command being sent from the same document the client has created them differently.

In notes 8 there are 7 body parts on the document properties
In notes 7 there are 8 body parts on the document properties

Both messages were created from the same database and document on the server using the same form. So there is clearly a difference in the way notes 7 and notes 8 have interpreted the document to its mime format?

Is this a know bug?

Any information would be greatly appreciated as if this can't be solved I may have to revert 70 PC's to the Notes 7 client.

This one is a long shot, but still it's a new feature of v8:

If large file attachments are uploaded to the Web server, out of memory conditions can result, which prevent the transaction from completing. In the worst case, low memory conditions for the HTTP task can lead to HTTP task crashes for those functions of the IBM® Lotus® Domino" server that do not handle low memory conditions.
To reduce the amount of memory needed to handle file attachment uploads, the NOTES.INI variable DominoMultiPartPostBufferSize can be used to control the size of the memory buffer used to process multi-part form data.
DominoMultiPartPostBufferSize
Syntax: DominoMultiPartPostBufferSize=<n>  where <n> is the number of megabytes to allocate to the memory buffer.
Additional information: The size of the buffer can be affected by the NOTES.INI variable DSAPI_MAX_POST_DATA_BUFF_SIZE. If  DSAPI_MAX_POST_DATA_BUFF_SIZE is greater then DominoMultiPartPostBufferSize then the maximum buffer size will be set to DSAPI_MAX_POST_DATA_BUFF_SIZE. By default,  DSAPI_MAX_POST_DATA_BUFF_SIZE is set to 1 megabyte and cannot exceed 100 megabytes. Therefore,  DominoMultiPartPostBufferSize has a 10 megabyte minimum and a  100 megabyte maximum
Default: 10 MB

Maybe you should take a look: in your server's help folder open db called "IBM Lotus Domino 8 Release Notes" and locate topic:

I have re-looked at the original document for this.

There are two attachments in the document - one gets attached to the mime e-mail created when running @MailSend and one dosen't

The one that dosen't is not associated with a richtextitem parent, it only exists as a $file on the document.

Have you come across any problems where LOtus Notes 7 CLient attaches everything and Lotus Notes 8 Client only attaches explicilty embedded objects.

If I copy the item from below the HR line to the main body field it attaches when the mime e-mail is created.

I have found a distributable solution for this now.

To Summarise:
I am not sure exactly why but attachments not related to a rich text field sometimes known as "V2 Style Attachments" are not attaching to MIME e-mails sent from the Lotus Notes 8 Client. They previously worked in Lotus Notes 7 client.

There are two solutions to this problem:

Solution 1) Paste the V2 Style Attachment into a rich text field on the body of the document before sending.
OR
Solution 2) On your send button disable MIME conversion using the session.ConvertToMime=False invoke the send document command doc.send()

This disables conversion to MIME of the e-mail in the client despite the users preferences.

Change the server configuration so that MIME conversion is performed on all outgoing e-mail.

Mail converts with V2 Attachments

Solution 3) Write your own create MIME e-mail routine in script. (Can't be applied to historical documents)
