My client wants a Client File Sharing Portal on his site

My client wants a Client File Sharing Portal on his site to allow different clients to log in and have access to upload and download files for use with his business. I can code this from scratch in PHP, however I was wondering if there was a better, possibly prepackaged solution I could use. Not an issue if it costs.
Thanks!

At my church we solved this with Google Docs.  No code, no cost, and all the heavy lifting has been done in advance.  I am sure you can add an "intranet" of some sort, and I wrote one at one time, but it seemed unnecessary for our work.  HTH, ~Ray
