HP laserjet 2600n can't uninstall drivers

I got a new computer (using vista) and  can't print to my networked 2600n, it shows the printer is offiline. After doing research, I think it's because I installed the wrong driver first (the one for usb connected printers) and then later found the original installation disk that had the network installation. I read somewhere that I need to uninstall the first copy and then reinstall the right one. The problem is, the drivers won't uninstall. I just get an error message and the uninstall program stops working. Any solutions how to either fix this, or at least have any other ideas how to get this printer to work?

Check your installation CD that came with the HP Printer for a file called "Scrubber.exe" which should remove all trace of it.  If you no longer have the CD you can usually get an ftp download by contacting HP Support but make sure you use the correct version of scrubber for the printer you have.

I found out through another source to try and go into the printer settings and add a tcp/ip port and that fixed my problem
