MySQL priority

Dear Experts,

Is it possible to prioritize MySQL jobs in order or importance, so if 2 people, 1 person does a select and the other does an insert, the select gets priority.  If someone has already started an insert, then later someone starts a select, can the select take priority by reducing the CPU usage of the insert?  Also, the same with full text indexing, when a table is being index, is it possible to reduce its priority to allow select to take over?

In order to happen this (SELECT gets higher priority then READ) You need to convert all your INSERT statements to INSERT DELAYED statements... but make sure you table don't have much holes(DELETES).. and make sure concurrent_insert is set to 1
