I have a sql server that uses transactional Replication, I am running a large update on it. If somthing goes wrong I would like to restore from the backup, in sql 2000 I was able to disable  the Distribution agent and I could restore over the database, This doesnt seem to work with 2005. Is there a better way to do this.

I would generate the scripts to recreate all of your subscriptions...that way if something fouls up,  you can run the script to recreate everything.
