Getting voicemails in Outlook

We have exchange 2007 sp1, outlook 2007 and Nortel BCM 400. I want to get Voicemails in outlook. I am looking at Unified Communication Server and Office Comm. But I just want to get those voicemails sent to outlook inboxes. Does anyone have any suggestions?

does you voicemail server / box have a configuration utility to forward voicemail to inbox, that is where the setting will be at, on your PBX

Exchange isn't a voicemail server, so you need some server or appliance to act as the voicemail server.  Then you need something else (it may be part of the voicemail server) to hook to Exchange to deliver the voice messages as attached files, such as .wav files.

Are you looking for specific suggestions as to brands/models, or some way to bypass having a voicemail system separate from Exchange?

No BCM 450 has "message forwarding". I have the BCM 400. But there has to be someway to get thost voicemails to exchange.

Simplify Active Directory Administration

Administration of Active Directory does not have to be hard.  Too often what should be a simple task is made more difficult than it needs to be.The solution?  Hyena from SystemTools Software.  With ease-of-use as well as powerful importing and bulk updating capabilities.

I am aware the exchange is not a voicemail server. I want the voicemails from the BCM to be sent to exchange mailboxes. trying to find solutions. ideally MS based since I already have exchange in place. Also I want the users to be able to get this anywhere, so installing a client based solution is not helpful.

The BCM 450 has to be able to do SMTP forwarding or email to get it to your exchange server.
So you need to web into your BCM 450 and check the configuration setting for SMTP setting or message forwarding, if not contact your Nortel rep...

Unless the BCM 400 has some sort of message forwarding over SMTP, you will not be able to move it, unless you can get to drive location that holds these voicemails, but even then the system will us some NORTEL programming language to identify the messages that would not be easy for the human eye to recognize this

I understand that. Been down that road a million times in the last few months.

I want to know of a solution on the MS size. MS claims that their comm servers are compatible with all PBX systems.

There are some stipulations to that, but Office communications server will do what you are asking it to do as long as your pbx has some sort of IP SIP Trunk to go along with it, along with presence, and web presentation / collaboration...

You are referring to unified communications part of Exchange. However that would REPLACE your voicemail system. You need to speak to whoever looks after your phone system to see what is involved. I know there are some Nortel systems on the HCL, but depending on the model depends on what is involved with regards to hardware and software integration.

Talk to your phone system supplier - we recently installed an Application called CallPilot that works with our Nortel system and allows our users to pick up their messages either on their phone or in their Outlook inbox.  That sounds like what you are looking.

Small office here - Meridian phone system.  Full install and deployment took less than an hour (9 client workstations).

I have spoke with MS and Nortel. My BCM support SIP, and Exchange 2007 UM can act as my voicemail system, replacing the one on the BCM. Now I just have to figure out how.
