Password for 3com 3824 switch

I have an unused 3com 3824 3C17400 switch that needs to be reset to default settings before being used.  Before I am able to do this I am prompted for a password.  The password I had been provided with by previous IT staff does not work.  Is there a way around this?

If I remember right you should be able to either configure it  via a serial cable without a password, or interupt the boot process.

here a link to the documentation to it, it says that there is no default password (blank) try the good old enter key to see if you can get in.

Thanks.  After reading through the link provided was able to access.  Had to be VERY quick to access the backdoor function.
