asked on
how can I open and re-use OLD windows registry to rescue outlook accounts?
Situation:
I had Windows Vista and tried new Windows 7. Of course I made a backup.
Everything works fine, BUT I miss now all my outlook accounts. I know that they were
saved in windows registry.
Like in this article: https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/22930168/How-do-I-transfer-Outlook-2007-email-accounts-from-1-pc-to-another.html
But how I can open and re-use an OLD registry? With which tool? And where is the registry located? Windows Vista is now saved in directory windows.old.
If I use regedit.exe then it opens of course only the new registry from Windows7.
Who can help?
Thanks.

Thanks!
But yours is a solution when Vista is still running.
In my case Vista got already the upgrade by Windows7. Means Vista is now located in directory windows.old. I have access to all the folders and files but I don't know how to re-use an old registry key from an old OS which is not anymore running.
