What is the maximum character size of Base64?

(I have specified in a document that the maximum length that will be returned in base64 value is 2047 but i don't remember how or why this number was specified.)

Base64 is about encoding ...
and has, apart from the "line length", no such limitation..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base64

so I don't see where you would have come up with the 2074 size?

from the document "An auth token is up 2047 characters/bytes in length and is a BASE64 encoded, when stored in the database"

So that would mean the token is 2047 max in length, not the base64 resulted value.

Still does not make sense as to how or why the max token length is 2047!
