Citrix Xenapp Plugin V11 delay issue with WAN printer

Hi,

I have a PS 4.0 environment with the client still on version 9.200. I want to upgrade the client to the latest version 11.0

What I found is if the PC have a remotely located printer (from another branch connected via WAN) the published application experiences delays after the initial logon. When the remote printer is removed, the delay doesn't happen. The delays seem to be dependent on how slow the WAN link is, i.e. the slower the link the longer the delay.

The setting "Start this application without waiting for printers to be created" is enabled on the published application. Printers are autocreated from the client PC printer list.

This does not happen with client v9.2. I also have a XenApp 5.0 test environment and the same thing happens on it. Does anyone else have this issue?

Regards,

WA

Did you try installing fresh v11.0 client instead of upgrading v9.x client?

There are number of issues documented in v11.0 client Readme (related to printing as well), therefore, Citrix recommend to unistall any previous Citrix client completely and then install new v11.0 client...give it a try and let me knw.

Yes I have tried a fresh install of v1l. I have uninstalled the citrix client in different ways as well such as add/remove programs, command line, and the unica application.

The problem still exist regardless.

It looks similar to --> http://kb.citrite.net/article/CTX119075

Applications might appear to be unresponsive during session launch if autocreated printers are offline or unavailable. In environments that use Access Gateway, applications might appear to be unresponsive for several minutes.

You may need to contact Citrix for similar fix for XenApp 5.0.

LKaushal,

That link does not work, I assume this is the site you were referring to

I actually haven't installed it (completely forgot about it). Will try sometime this week and let you know how it goes.

On another note, I also did a test by installing a fresh install of Windows so that the PC would not have a previous Citrix client. Issue still exists.
