I want to know what is a viable option for me to open and edit attachment on Blackberry? If needed, I can get the latest Storm 2.

The challenges are, when I am in a place that I have only Blackberry access and no other Internet access (tethering does not work as ATT wants to charge me my first born)

1. I cannot open Word, Excel, PDF attachments in a workable view
2. I cannot save the attachment and transfer that to my laptop for further viewing and editing
3. Once i am done with my editing from my laptop, i cannot transfer it back to my Blackberry and send it out.

Any idea? is iPhone the answer?

1. On any Blackberry device running firmware 4.5 or higher you can open and edit documents using "Documents To Go" which is included on the device.
2. You are able to download and save attachments to your device > then connect the device to your PC > Enable Mass Storage Mode > Open your documents from your PC.
3. When you finish editing a document you can save it back to your device (assuming you enabled Mass Storage Mode) and then open, edit or email it later from the device.
Please ensure you device is running the latest firmware, you can check for updates using the link below:

I post the proper solution here for everybody.

There are two ways to do this. The actual operation is the same - you click the menu key on the email with attachment, then click Download Attachment (this option will show up once you get your system environment right as described below.)

1. if you use Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES)

You must use BlackBerry® Device Software version 4.5 to 4.7
and BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.1 SP5 (4.1.5) to SP6 (4.1.6) or above

2. Use Blackberry Internet Server (BIS) and BlackBerry® Device Software version 4.5 to 4.7

One more note, once you get the right system environment, you can send and download attachment as you please.
