Crystal report designer component to allow the user to drag and drop fields

I have a requirement by which the user should be able to drag and drop the fields into a report. i.e. they must be able to create a report on the fly. As far as i know we can position the controls using the report designer component.
But whether it supports the drag and drop of fields is the question.
Can we use the report designer component to allow the user to drag and drop fields in reports and create reports on the fly?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

In CR XI and before there is a library that allows the user to do that.  However it does have a license fee associated with it.  Last time I checked it was about $200 per user.

I have never used it so I don't know if it does but from what I have read it does allow you to essentially recreate the Crystal designer IDE.

It is probably easier and cheaper in the long run to buy a license of Crystal for each user who needs it.

IMHO unless you desire to add training users on report design and database development, it is generally easier to develop several generic reports that present the information the user wants and export it to Excel for them to manipulate it.  My experience with users who want to develop their own reports is they generally have an agenda they are trying to push and want special reports that present that agenda in a favorable light even at the expense of other proects and in some cases skew the data.

How many users?  If you're using either BusinessObjects Edge or BusinessObjects Enterprsie, you have access to Web Intelligence (WebI), which is an ad-hoc analytic reporting tool against Business Objects Universes and Voyager, a web-gased analytic reporting tool used against OLAP data sources.
