5.7.1 Unable to relay Exchange 2003

Hi Experts
Recently I added a second domain to be looked after our Exchange 2003 Server.
IE:

1st Domain abc.com
2nd Domain xyz.com

I have configured MX records to point to the Exchange Server.  And I have even placed a recipient policy for xyz.com in Exchange Server and checked that the server is responsible for all mail delivery to this address.

However when I go to send an email to that address postmaster@xyz.com I get the error message:

Final-Recipient: rfc822;postmaster@xyz.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.7.1
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for postmaster@xyz.com

I can't figure out where I have gone wrong.  Surely the recipients policy entry covers this.

Please help.

Do the users you're trying to send to have the email address in their list of email addresses in their Exchange Settings in Active Directory?

Create a test user and give xyz.com as email address and send a test email. Post the bounced message you have.

It will be good to restart the info store service so that exchange is aware of the new domain.

Hi Guys
I actually solved this one myself.  Turns out that my network has a perimeter SMTP server that handles the email first before passing onto Exchange.  I had to add the domain there in IIS.

1) In IIS Expand Default SMTP Server
2) Right Click Domains
3) Select New -> Select Domain
4) Specify Remote domain Type Click Next
5) Enter the name of the domain click finish

And that fixed my problem
