Export from excel to flat file with a custom delimiter

I have an excel file, I would like to know a way to export that into a flat file with a custom delimiter like '|' or '&'.

Challenge is, This file has tabs inside one of the columns, This tab is enclosed in quotes. So, I don't want to replace the columns with tabs, but replace the tabs that separing columns.

For ex:

1            ABC Company            John        Doe        "He is 21 years old <tab> He lives in Colorado"

This should be extracted to:
This should be extracted to a flat file:
1|ABC Company|John|Doe|He is 21 years old<tab>He lives in Colorado"

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank You

To export an excell file you can always try to save it as "CVS".

This uses a custom delimiter for its values, it's simple because it's basic functionality and normally you keep al your data from it.

But i have to admit, i have no idea if this helps your tab problem...
