Is it safe to dcpromo a win2008 virtual machine installed on a laptop that is already on a 2003 domain?

Hi all,

I am running a Virtual Windows 2008 server inside a Sun Virtual box virual machine. Sun Virtual box is installed on a T61P laptop, already on a Domain (my company's domain)
Basically I am readin the MCITP 2008 Windows Administration book, and during the exercices, they ask me to promote this virtual machine as a domain controller using DCPROMO and create the Contoso.local domain..  Since i nerver installed and configured a domain before,  I am a little bit affraid of screwing up my company's 2003 domain by doing this.. thats why i am asking if its safe or not.

My 2003 DC is on 192.168.XXX.XXX/24  subnet
The virtual machine is on 10.0.0.X/24 Subnet aswell.

Should be fine - the only thing you don't want to do is install DHCP.  Use Static IP addresses instead.  (Or make the virtual network an enclosed LAN with no access to the rest of the network (including internet access, most likely).

(Sorry, never used Virtual Box, I tend to stick with the easy Virtual PC and/or VMWare Server).
