SQL server 2005 Reporting services SMTP Email delivery issue

We have SQL server 2005 Reporting services, we are making use of local SMTP for relaying.

I am able to send mails using Telnet, but when we enable subscriptions on reports we get
Failure sending mail: Access is denied. error message, I checked in the log

ReportingServicesService!emailextension!f!05/22/2009-15:26:14:: Error sending email. System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access is denied.

   at ReportingServicesCDOInterop.MessageClass.Send()
   at Microsoft.ReportingServices.EmailDeliveryProvider.EmailProvider.Deliver(Notification notification)
ReportingServicesService!notification!f!05/22/2009-15:26:14:: Notification 9f7bd5f3-0a3c-4461-8c5b-6ed0da20acdb completed.  Success: False, Status: Failure sending mail: Access is denied.

in the reporting services mail config screen, try putting a known working username / password as the username/pw to connect to the mail server.  It's definelty security related.

In the reporting services mail config screen we are not able to put user name and password, it just accepts the from and smtp server details.
