How to prevent accidental removal of non-virus by anti-virus software: ZoneAlarm Extreme Security

When I earlier scanned my external HDDs with Rising Anti-virus, Rising deleted not only the viruses, but also non-viruses such as my Internet Favorites etc. Do most anti-virus softwares act like this? I have changed to ZoneAlarm Extreme Security now, and will soon use it to get rid of viruses. But I'm afraid the same thing will happen: it will remove also important personal files such as my Favorites. How can I prevent this?

Hello,

Its possible for any antivirus to have false-positives and this is why its best to use the well-known brands only. ZoneAlarm should be good as per my experience, you can backup your favorites in another place to have a copy if the antivirus deletes them. Although, the good brands shouldn't have any problems.

Hope it helps.
