ER Diagram in Visio

I have MS Visio on my machine at work, but I can't figure out how to draw an entity relation diagram.  I've look for a template, but haven't found one.  Ideas?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

When you open MSVisio you will see a list of TEMPLATE CATEGORIES to the left.

Choose Software and database---> and then choose database model diagram that should take you to the ER diagrams template

Hope this helps!!

I don't have a "Software and database" category to the left, but I have many others.

There are two possible reasons why you don't see "Software and Databases": either you are running the Standard edition of Visio and not the Professional edition, or you are running VIsio 2003 (or earlier) and not Visio 2007.

The "Software and Databases: folder only exists in Visio 2007 Professional.

In Visio 2003 Professional, there is a template folder called "Software" and a separate one called "Database".

For a comparison of what's in Standard vs. Professional, see this page for Visio 2007
and this page for Visio 2003
