Do you mean you want to backup your entire VM or just the snapshots.<br />
I would recommend Veeam FASTSCP and backup tool to do this. You can use it to schedule backups.<br />
Another option is to use the VCB proxy tool to backup your VM's. <br />

IMHO, Snapshots are not equivalent to Backups. Snapshots should not be backed up since they act as a mechanism for testing patches, hotfixes, etc.<br />

Virtual Machine Backups are considered on par with physical Server Backups.<br />

I am trying to backup whole vm, I now understand that snapshot is not whole current vm. What I am trying to accomplish is backing up vm to do restore of enitre vm instance on another box. How do I go about this the best way with free tools on esxi?
