Can't synchronise from outlook to Microsoft CRM

I am running MS CRM 4.
I have setup the Oulook client and have gone into options and checked the box which says "allow microsoft dynamics crm to send e-mail using CRM for outlook"
When I click on a mail and say "track in CRM' oulook throws an error saying
"you do not have sufficient rights to perform this action

Any ideas as to what rights they are talking about ?
My user rights in CRM are system administrator AND system customizer.

Are you currently Offline in Outlook?  I've seen this error when you try to track an email in CRM that does not have the contact available.
