The RAID Storage Manager Agent service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s)

I receive this message in my system event log every day.

The RAID Storage Manager Agent service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).

Source: Service Control Manager
Category: None
Event ID: 7034
Type: Error

Does this mean I have faulty hardware? If so, can the source be narrowed down? RAID Controller card, SCSI Cable, Hard Drive?

On a Sunday the system went down and the tech support member of a business sales company claimed the source was a surveillance computer. This surveillance computer has a static ip address and is on Windows XP Home edition. I can't imagine how a non-networked computer could cause the Domain Controller (the server with this error) to stop working or crash. It appears that the sub-unit terminals are trying to promote themselves above the Domain Controller on three different occasions as noted below. This "The RAID Storage Manager Agent service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s)" has happened every day for as far back as the event logs go. The repetitive unplugging of the network cable was instructions by the tech support of the business sales company. They diagnosed that a Win XP Home computer was causing the network to crash. Is that even possible? All the computer does is use dyndns.org and allow remote viewing of a security camera. It is not networked to the domain, nor does it have any elevated access over it.

On the day of the crash, the following reports are summarized for 05-17-09.

First thing i would do i update raid driver and software to latest versions.

Did you disconnect the network cable itself when you event viewer was logging the disconnects?

A client computer on the netork letting a DC crash is unlikely but always possible if the clients has a virus for instance.

I will check to see if the drivers need updating, but this system was designed specifically for business sales. I did not setup this network, I'm just trying to fix it.

I myself did not directly disconnect, but my coworker did every time it was logged. That was the tech support company attempting to get the system back up, which they did.

My problem is what they blamed. They blamed the surveillance computer. We setup a windows xp home computer with geovision and canon vb-c60 ip cam software for surveillance. It is on the same router, with just three ports forwarded to it specifically on a static ip address. This static ip address is nowhere near the range that dhcp is offered via the router, but I'm almost positive that the DC and all its touch screen terminals are static ip addresses as well. That should not be the problem. They claimed that when they unplugged the surveillance computer's network cable, that the business sales system was able to work again.

I have my doubts.

First of all, its not connected to the domain. Second of all, its a dedicated computer which only is in communication with dyndns.org, geovisions dynamic ip address software, and logmein.com. It does not speak to the DC nor does it have any access within the domain. The activity log of the surveillance computer shows a gap of inactivity from around the 13th to the 21st. Apparently, the surveillance computer wasn't working for days. If windows wasn't recording any event logs in the time frame that the business sales system went down, is it a good possibility that it was the surveillance computer which caused this problem?

People at work are quick to blame me and my friend who setup this surveillance system. It's the typical, if something goes wrong blame the last guy who worked on the computers.

I hope I nor my friend created a network conflict which somehow reached over and stopped the business sales system from working.

I would feel much better knowing we didn't cause the problem with that xp home computer.

Any feedback or suggestions from this point on would be appreciated.

It turns out an ip cam was trying to use 192.168.0.30 and probably so was the business sales system. I've reconfigured the ip cam out of the typical low range and haven't had a conflict since.

Thanks for your help
