Resource mailbox is not visible!

Hi Experts,

An user is complaining that she is not able to book a room for July July02 from 14:00-15:00. which was released by another user. I've checked that room and found that the account is present but not a single mailbox features/tabs enabled. I've checked this through all 10 mailbox servers but no luck!

When I go to Exchange Task I can see Create Mailbox option (no remove). At first guess I can assume that for this account there is no mailbox configured as of now. Or may be someone has deleted that.

But, is there any option to find out whether mailbox for this account has been deleted or not?

Also, how is it possible to find out the mailbox for an account using Display name or Alias name?

Please advise.

Many Thanks,
Anupam

If it was deleted, the mailbox may still be available through the Exchange Service Manager too ( If the cleanup agent hasn't run ). If the mailbox is still there, you can retach it to the account.

You can find the mailbox by display name in the Exchange Service Mangere too !
It is also available though active directory if you have installed the exchange tools for active directory.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. There are 2 exchange server in that location and each have 4 SG with 4 stored in each of them. I've checked but could not able to find that resource mailbox in System Manager.

I'll enable Advance features in ADUC and update you soon.

Between, is there any MS tool available to check the aviailability of MB for an account? Because I've to check sooooo many SG and Stores :O(

Many thanks,
Anupam

Creating Active Directory Users from a Text File

If your organization has a need to mass-create AD user accounts, watch this video to see how its done without the need for scripting or other unnecessary complexities.

No but if you go to the properties of the Account in ADUC on the properties page in the Exchange General tab you can see where the mailbox resides.

Nope Rancy, no luck, I can't find the Exchange tabs out there even with Advanced option enabled.

Do you feel the mailbox was never existing?

Anupam

if the exchange mailbox was deleted, the exchange tabs in the active directory disappear too.
So there is no way to tell if there ever was a mailbox or it has been deleted.

Either not created or deleted by disconnecting and purging.

Hey Rancy,

I'm really really sorry for not updating you guys :O( I'm begging apology for that. Actually hooked up with some other work.

Update: During mailbox movement from one SG to another SG, a junior admin has deleted that mailkbox by mistake. I've reconnected it once again.

Doubts: Once we reconnect, whatever data was present earlier in the mailbox, will they remain there intact? Please let me know, because I've not faced this type of issue earlier....

I'll soon assign the points and close off this question.

Thanks,
Anupam
