Migrating sharepoint during sbs 2003 to sbs 2008 migration

I went through the migration steps to move companyweb from my old sbs 2003 server to sbs 2008. Now per instructions, I have two intranet sites -- http://companyweb that goes to the default sharepoint server and http://oldcompanyweb that goes to the migrated site. That doesn't seem very useful. I want http://companyweb to contain the old data. How do I make that happen?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The data is stored in the backend database ... if both sites are pointing to the same database then this should work.

If the database is local on each of the machines then you are going to have to migrate the database from the old machine to the new one to duplicate the data.
