Need alternate index page and ability to go to the development site

Hi I am new to apache and wordpress.  I have a site that I am developing with it and want to have a "Coming Soon Page", but when someone types in the direct or alternate url to the site specific fro wordpress I want it to render as then wordpress blog.  I created an index.html page, i believe the wordpress site usualy starts at index.php. I modified the .htaccess and the index.html acts as the default document, but when the url is index.php it redirects back to index.html
# Use PHP5 as default
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php
# added below to use index.html as default document
DirectoryIndex  index.html
# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
# END WordPress

you should use vh to set it up, and as seen in example below, when visitors go to www.your_domain.com, they only see "Coming soon" page, but they will get to wordpress when going to www.your_wordpress.com; also, put main on top, so if visitors have typo, they will lead to the first vh which is main site ;)
NameVirtualHost *:80
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName www.your_domain.com
ServerAlias your_domain.com
DocumentRoot "/path/to/folder/for/main/site"
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName www.your_wordpress.com
ServerAlias your_wordpress.com
DocumentRoot "/path/to/folder/for/wordpress"
